Tell us what inspired you while scoring Halston
Great director and a great story. I didn’t know any specific details about Halston’s life before being approached with this film. Learning about the subtext in his life inspired me.
Favorite film and why
Spartacus. It is a classic good guy, bad guy film. It has such a strong multi-purpose theme, much like The Godfather.
Describe the 1970s in one word
Over the top, 3 words but still works.
Something your fans would be surprised to learn about you
I’m a pretty good cook!
Tell us about The Stanley Clarke Foundation and its mission
The Stanley Clarke Foundation was founded by myself and wife Sofia. We provide scholarships to the Musician’s Institute for aspiring talented musicians. Our mission is to empower young musicians regardless of socioeconomic stature.

You get a chance to write music that normally would never go on your own personal records.
